Hi there! My name is Nate, and I am the sole craftsman behind Lost Dutchman Leather, as well as a lover of bacon. I was born in Toledo, Ohio but have been living in Mesa, Arizona since the summer of 2017. I got into leathercraft as an early teen (because I was bored) and fell in love with it. I spent countless hours watching video tutorials and refining the many techniques involved in the crafting process. In 2016, I opened an Etsy shop and started selling my work. People began buying, and I kept making, and here I am! I love what I do and am so thankful to those who have supported what started as a hobby and eventually grew into the business it is today.
I consider the process to be the most important aspect of my craft. Quality materials without careful and considerate crafting will result in nothing more than a mediocre product.
That's why I make everything 100% by hand.
When I say 100% handmade, I mean 100%. There are no machines used in any part of the process. Sure, doing everything by hand can be time consuming, but it results in a superior product.
My goal has always been the same -- to produce the highest quality work I am capable of. I want my leather goods to tell a story, and I want it to be one of excellence, with attention to detail. A story of taking time for the finer aspects of the craft while paying respect to the traditional techniques used by the earliest leather workers.
