OUR STORY
A brand born of passion.
Nate was just 12 years old when he first discovered leathercraft. It immediately spoke to him in a way nothing else had. The ability to express creativity into a raw piece of material and create something beautiful, useful, and durable became an obsession. Throughout his teens he made wallets, belts, and gifts for friends and family, honing his skills and learning to design his own products.
In 2017 he started selling his work online. By 2020, what began as a childhood obsession had grown into something much bigger – big enough to take the leap and go full-time. That leap is what became Lost Dutchman Leather.
Today, Lost Dutchman Leather is more than one craftsman at a bench. It’s a team of people who share the same belief that Nate did at 12 – the belief that things should be built with care, built with purpose, and built to last.
We continue to prioritize craftsmanship, durability, and functional design – and we still make everything in the USA. Not because it’s easy, but because it matters. It matters to us, and it matters to people like you who believe quality American craftsmanship is worth supporting.
Because of you, a 12-year-old's hobby has become a dream come true.
Thank you for being part of this story. We can’t wait to keep building it with you.
Our Mission
We're sick of stuff that doesn't last.
The modern era is defined by fast fashion and mass production. Everyday items are designed to wear out so that you'll have to buy more. The focus of most big consumer brands is on cheap, fast production, and keeping up with trends.
We're a little bit different. There was a time when stuff was made to last – not just a month, or a year – but decades. The combination of durable materials and quality craftsmanship meant the creation of heirlooms rather than disposable goods.
You shouldn't have to replace your wallet, belt, or watch strap every 2 years. You should be able to trust that the items you rely on will hold up and age gracefully. That's why we use full-grain leather, why we craft our products by hand, and why everything we make comes with a Lifetime Guarantee.
Our mission is simple – we want to deliver exceptional American craftsmanship to as many people as possible.
